About Us

Evans Restaurant and River Creek Lodge have re-established St. George Island as a destination in St. Mary’s County. Local owners and developers, Chuck and Bip Kimball, have used more than 50yrs of development skills to give us this experience.

On July 17, 1776 the first shots of the revolutionary war in Maryland were fired. The British tried to take over the island for food and water. Our old watermen took very serious exception to this. Results: 8 British warships were sunk and the island is still ours. We want you to relax with a cool drink and look out into the creek and envision, "What if"!

Evans Restaurant was established in 1962 by Robert “Bugs” Evans as a small seafood business. This narrow strip of land between the Potomac River and St. George Creek provided a location for local watermen to sell and trade fresh seafood. On the foundation of the fresh seafood’s bountiful taste Evans Crab House was established. Local principals lend distinctive tastes. Using fresh seafood and local recipes, your dining experience will continue long after your last bite. "Honkers" is the coziest waterfront bar in Maryland. Our bar has the best views of our Potomac River Sunset. A fireplace nips away the evening chills and a big screen TV ensures you won’t miss the game.

Evans has been a place where locals love to bring their family and friends year after year. Come and find out one of our county’s hidden secrets, make our St. George Island your next destination. Stop in for a good time!
